Skin Cancer &
Benign Skin Lesions

Dr Emma Horton is an NHS Consultant Dermatologist with extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of skin cancer and benign skin lesions. She regularly performs skin surgery as part of her NHS practice.

She provides specialist assessment for suspected skin cancers, including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), alongside common benign lesions such as skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses, raised moles, warts and verrucas.

Assessment and treatment

Following examination, including dermoscopy where appropriate, Dr Emma will advise whether a lesion requires treatment, monitoring or further investigation.

Treatment options may include cryotherapy (freezing), biopsy, surgical excision or prescription creams for certain conditions such as actinic keratoses (sun damaged skin).

Selected minor procedures can be performed by Dr Emma. More complex skin cancers, particularly those requiring specialist reconstruction or Mohs surgery, will be referred to an appropriate specialist.

If your GP suspects skin cancer requiring urgent assessment, please follow the recommended urgent referral pathway.
